On the way to the forest site we looked out for anything that had changed since our last visit. We found these beautiful spring snowdrops.
Albert was really proud of himself when he read the sign next to the farmyard. He only needed help with 1 word!
We were so pleased when we found the puddles again...we love to get muddy!
We were kept busy with our "Superhero" training at the forest. We had to follow a rope trail.
We negotiated big obstacles.
We had to creep under branches.
Sometimes we had to get down really low!
Then it got harder....we teamed up with a friend...one of us had to wear a "Superhero" blindfold.
Our partner had to guide us along the rope trail.
We had to listen carefully to our partners as they told us what to do.
When we were the guide we had to give our blind-folded friend clear instructions.
It got very tricky sometimes!
We had to help our friends round tricky obstacles.
We held our friend's hands and gave them lots of encouragement.
We even had to crawl sometimes!
We were really proud of ourselves when we reached the end.
When we had finished our "Superhero" forest training we had our first mission to go on!
The forest owl told us that his animal friends had been frozen by the Ice Giant. We had to go and rescue them!
We found Ratty first. He had been frozen in a block of ice! How could we help him?
Then we found more clues....blocks of ice scattered in the forest.
We searched everywhere for Owl's animal friends.
We decided to put Ratty somewhere warm so the ice would melt and he would be free again. Ah...where could we put him......next to the campfire.
We kept searching for clues. We found more ice.
Then we found a hedgehog stuck up in a tree!
Albert could just reach the hedgehog when he stretched up on his tiptoes.
We found a little brown mouse really high up....too high to reach. We managed to shake him loose.
We searched until we found all of the animals and then we put them near the fire to warm up.
We had to think of how we could keep the Ice Giant away.
We thought about the story of David and Goliath and how little David had beaten the huge Goliath. That's it! We decided to make slingshots!
We worked together. we needed forked sticks, elastic bands and leather strips.
We soon hand the catapults made...it was fun stretching the elastic.
We tested our catapults...we used pine cones and aimed at the potato boxes. We made sure we kept away from our friends so everyone was safe.
After all our busy activities we had a relaxing picnic by the fire. Mrs. Dixon makes yummy packed lunches for our forest trips.
We watched Ratty and his friends as they warmed up near the fire. The ice soon melted. A successful mission accomplished by Rowan Superheroes!
